The streaming giant has partnered with SignUp Media to provide ASL interpretations for dozens of popular shows and movies, including Stranger Things: Tales From '85 and Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. This move is significant for families with deaf or hard-of-hearing children, who often struggle to keep up with their peers in literacy tests.

By providing ASL interpretations, Netflix is giving deaf and hard-of-hearing children the chance to fully participate in the world of entertainment and improve their literacy skills.

According to reports, the partnership uses a Google Chrome extension that overlays ASL interpretations in a separate window, making it easier for users to access the content. This approach is a departure from traditional methods, where individual titles with ASL interpretations are available directly from the app. The collaboration also builds on SignUp Media's previous success with The Oscars Project, which provided ASL interpretations for every best picture nominee from the 2026 Academy Awards.
